Baruntse expedition is an exciting and adventurous ascent of Baruntse mountain peak (7129 m) in the Everest region. Located between Mt. Lhotse and Mt. Makalu, Mt Baruntse is a magnificent peak, bounded by Barun glacier on the east, Hunku glacier on the south, and Imja glacier on the northwest.

This peak is a semi-technical mountain known for its high success rate of climbing. Nevertheless, it is physically demanding and requires arduous effort and strong determination. A successful climb offers you the magical view of Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, Cho Oyu, and many other mountain peaks in the Himalayas.

Spring is the best season to climb Baruntse peak. However, you can go for the expedition in autumn as well. Baruntse expedition is a perfect experience for those aiming to climb 8000+ meter-peaks in thefuture.

The expedition starts from Lukla after a half an hour mountain flight from Kathmandu. From Lukla, you’ll trek to Paiya. The trek continues through the forested hills and beautiful Sherpa villages such as Pangkoma, Nigmsa, ChetraKhola, and Kothe. After a day of acclimatization at Tangnang, you’ll continue your trek through Khare and Kongma, and finally, have your first camping experience at Seto Pokhari. The next day, you’ll reach Baruntse Base camp, where you’ll involve in mountaineering activities and prepare yourself for the final ascent.

The climb consists of hard sections, steep slopes, and ice cliffs. You’ll require days of acclimatization and proper guidance before you make it to the top of the peak. However, your continued effort will pay you thegreatest reward, an unprecedented experience of conquering the glorious summit. After this successful expedition, you’ll descend to the base camp and return to Lukla to take your flight back to Kathmandu.
