Your adventure in the Khumbu Valley begins with a 30-35-minute scenic mountain flight from Kathmandu to Lukla, a small town nestled in the lap of the Himalayas and the gateway to Everest Region Trekking. From Lukla, the trek winds through stunning landscapes and picturesque Sherpa settlements like Phakding, Monjo, Namche Bazaar, Thumoo, and Thame. As you ascend, conquer the mighty Renjo La (5,435m), unlocking grand panoramas of the Khumbu Himalayas, including four of the world’s highest peaks: Mount Cho Oyu, Everest, Lhotse, and Makalu.
From the Renjo La Pass, you will descend into the magnificent Gokyo Lakes Valley. Gokyo Valley offers jaw-dropping vistas of the Mahalangur Himalayan range, especially from the summit of Gokyo Ri Peak (5,373m). The Everest Three Pass journey then progresses towards Cho La Pass (5,420m). After conquering this challenging high pass, you’ll reach Everest Base Camp and Kala Patthar (5,545m). Kala Patthar, the trek’s second-highest point, offers the closest view of the mighty Everest and surrounding peaks.
After reaching the historic Everest Base Camp, you’ll continue your trek to Khongma La Pass (5,535m), transitioning into the Imja Valley. Here, you can scale Chukung Ri Peak (5,553m), the trek’s highest peak. Having conquered all the high passes and viewpoints, descend through beautiful Sherpa villages like Dingboche, Pangboche, Tengboche, and Namche before concluding your remarkable journey in Lukla.
