Ghalegaun-Karpo Hill is probably one of the unique and greatest trekking destinations in the southern lap of the Annapurna Mountain range. Ghalegaun Karpo Hill is an off-the-beaten-track trek. Its key features are natural beauty, picturesque Gurung villages, stunning mountain vista, beautiful terraced farmlands, dense forests, and high alpine meadows just below the towering mountains of Annapurna II, IV, and Lamjung Himal. The isolated characteristics of Gurung villages, their culture, daily life, and traditions are other highlights of the Ghalegaun Karpo Hill Trek.
Ghalegaon-Karpo Hill Trek‘s journey begins from the capital city of Kathmandu. After a 7-8 hour Bus or Jeep drive from Kathmandu, we reach to Ghalegaun, and from where the actual Ghalegaon-Karpo Hill trek starts. The spectacular Ghalegaon village is situated on top of the hill. It is a settlement of Gurungs where we will experience the hospitality and culture of the local Gurung people and also get to see the morning sunrise, the Manaslu, and Annapurna mountain ranges.
Our second-day journey will be to Bhujung village. Bhujung is the largest Gurung village in the region with more than 400 families living in the village. From Bhujung Village the trek continues towards the west via another beautiful two Gurung villages Pasgaun and Singdi to the top of the Karpo Hill, altitude is approximately 3000m.
The Karpo Hill (Danda) is the main attraction of this trek from where we can see the adorable view of the Mountains including all the Annapurnas, Manaslu, Ngadi Chuli, Himal Chuli, Buddha Himal and Manaslu North, surrounding valleys, and Hills. Our trek continues further west passing by another two large Gurung villages, Tangding and Siklis which lie just in front of Annapurna-II, IV, and Lamjung Himal. There are a number of options for finishing the trek depending on our plans.
