Khayar Lake Trekking

Dhaulagiri Mountain range and the deepest Kaligandaki river valley.

The trek starts from the popular Gurung village of Ghandruk. It is famous for its traditional house and the warm hospitality of the Gurung people. At each of the villages along the way, you are warmly received by the local Gurung and Magar people. The walking is wisely paced so you have plenty of opportunity to experience and absorb local lifestyles that have changed little over centuries. From Tadapani we leave the popular main trail and gentle ascent into remote alpine terrain to Dobato. You may come across Yak/Nak herd and Sheppard will have the possibility to absorb their activities and test Yak coffee.

Early in the morning and evening ascend the Mulde Peak View Point. It offers excellent views of the majestic Himalayas as well as fabulous Sunrise and Sunset views. The trek will continue to Khopra Ridge through Sistibung and you will reach Khair Lake (the ultimate goal of the trip), which provides a magnificent view of Nilgiri, Annapurna I, Annapurna Fang, Annapurna South, and Dhaulagiri dominates the western skyline across the deepest gorge in the world, the Kali Ghandaki. Our return route descends through open alpine pastures and then oak and rhododendron forest to Swanta. We continue this off-the-beaten-track adventure via Ghorepani Poonhill and rejoin the main trail to Pokhara.
