Tamang Heritage Trail and Community Tourism
The area is predominantly inhabited by ethnic Tamang and Tibetan communities. Tamang communities are generally found at higher elevations, engaging in shifting cultivation and forest product extraction. They are mainly sheep and yak herders but also grow hardy grains and vegetables. Daily life includes raising livestock, agriculture, and trade with Kerung in Tibet. Additionally, they craft baskets and mats from mountain bamboo, and handmade clothing that contributes to the local economy and community tourism.
Journey Through Langtang Valley
The trek continues through the Langtang Valley, reaching Kyanjing Gompa, the last village in the area. The upper Langtang Valley is a grazing paradise, rich in flowers and grass, dotted with stone huts used in summer for making butter, sewn in skins, and exported to Tibet. A day hike to Kyanjin Ri (4,770m) offers a panoramic view of mountains, including Langtang Lirung (7,252m), Yubra Himal (6,305m), Yala Peak (5,500m), Dorje Lakpa (6,990m), Naya Kanga (5,846m), and Gangchenpo (6,378m), among others.
