Whatever type of trek you choose, your basic clothing and equipment list will be similar:

- Bags: A small day pack, backpack, or duffle bag.
- Down or fiber-filled jacket
- Water and windproof jacket (Gore-Tex)
- Poncho
- Fleece jacket.
- Hiking shirts
- Cotton and polypropylene t-shirts
- Full polypropylene or fleece t-shirts (jumper)
- Sun hat and woolen hat or balaclava
- Hiking pants with zip off legs or a pair of shorts
- Nylon wind pants, preferably waterproof.
- Long underwear.
- Gloves and or mittens if you tend to get very cold
- Gaiters
- Trekking boots and camp shoes or thongs
- High quality trekking socks- four or five pairs, some woolen for cold conditions.
- Sleeping bag -20c or warmer if you tend to sleep cold
- Water bottle or water pack (CamelBack, Platypus, etc.)
- Flashlight
- Sunglasses or goggles with UV protection
- Sunblock cream
- Towel and Hand wipes
- Iodine, water purification tablets or filter (antiviral type recommended like First Need), Steripen is more handy these days
- Medical & First Aid kit
- Battery charger, batteries and a voltage converter.
Note:Once you leave the trailhead, the opportunities to recharge batteries are very limited. Keep that in mind when selecting your Camera and buying batteries.
